Welcome to my blog! I wanted to tell the story of how “Heaven’s Kitchen with Janelle” came into being. Five years ago I lost my beloved Dad, Tom Malafronte, to colon cancer. My Dad fought a valiant battle and during his two years of treatment I cooked and cared for him. During a particularly difficult time as I was grieving his loss, I said to my son Tom “What am I going to do now?”
Tom and his girlfriend Mary Kate Fallon quickly replied “you should do a cooking show.” Mary Kate grabbed her laptop and quickly located the contact info for Wes Rea @ BCAM TV and as I dictated, she typed. We submitted a proposal and I received a return e-mail from Wes inviting me to come into BCAM to discuss my plan.
Wes was very supportive of my idea and cautioned that “TV is a lot of work.” Five years and twenty episodes later I can unequivocally say that he was right. My first episodes were shot with my husband Tom, son Tom, daughter Kaylene and niece Joley on camera. I shot several shows by myself in my Eastman, NH kitchen which literally took all day to complete.
Thanks to the support, encouragement and training from Wes and Gerry Commock at BCAM TV I have learned how to shoot, produce and edit my own show. I am blessed to have the BCAM crew shooting my show from my kitchen studio in Braintree. We’ve come a long way in 5 years!
