 Summer Daze

You know it’s summer at BCAM TV when you no longer hear the rush of cars driving by the studio at exactly 2:05pm.  The halls of the school may be quiet, but we have yet to slow down with work!

During the summer, you can most likely find us every Tuesday night at Sunset Lake for the Summer Concert Series.  I remember going to these concerts as a kid every week with my family, and now I get to spend my Tuesday nights reminiscing behind the camera.  If you would like to join the crew at Sunset Lake, become a volunteer!

While summer is a great time to sit back and relax, it’s also the perfect time to learn a hobby.  You could be announcing your child’s baseball game.  You could be assisting with the Braintree Day Parade.  Or you could be producing your own show.  The possibilities are endless!  We are always looking for passionate individuals who want to get involved with the Braintree Community.  It’s time to tell your story.

And the Winner is...

BCAM TV is honored to be chosen as a recipient of the 37th Annual Telly Awards. The Telly Awards honors the very best film & video productions, groundbreaking online video content, and outstanding local, regional, & cable tv commercials and programs. Janelle Snarsky’s “Heaven’s Kitchen with Janelle” won a bronze statue for a How-To/Instructional program. Paul Agnew & John Capavella’s “Songbook” won a bronze statue for Use of Music in a Show.

Janelle has been cooking up delicious food since 2013.  From pub pizza to mac & cheese, she has recipes that everyone can make in their own home.  The best part of working on her show?  She thanks us with a homemade lunch!

Paul and John have been bringing music to the community for over 15 years!  Paul handles the vocals and John masters the keys.  Every show is different!  If you have a song request, let Paul & john know.  We always have a great time working on the show in our studio!

We are extremely proud of our hardworking team and are pleased to share this achievement.  Be sure to watch our Telly Award Winning shows only on BCAM TV.

Coming Soon to BCAM TV

The crew over here at BCAM TV has been working hard on creating new projects coming to you in the new year.  We have produced 2 brand new shows that provide beneficial information to Braintree residents - Community Connection and Tell YOUR Story.

Community Connection, hosted by Keith Erickson, focuses on connecting the community to valuable resources and information.  We have a variety of guests appear on the show to discuss matters, such as domestic violence and consumer issues.  If you are interested in being a guest on Community Connection, give us a call!

Tell YOUR Story is based off of our motto.  BCAM TV is made by you, for you.  We welcome local residents to tell their own story to share with our community.  The staff goes on-location to speak with individuals who may have a special talent, to visit businesses with a special story, and to bring light to places in the area.  The show is comprised of several segments, providing something for everyone.

As always, we welcome any Braintree resident who would like to volunteer with BCAM TV.  No experience?  No problem!  We provide the training for our equipment.  Stop by the studio or contact us at 781.848.1831.

Reflection

Recently, our Executive Director celebrated his 10 year anniversary at BCAM TV.  I recently celebrated my 1 year anniversary working full time as a Production Specialist.  And I can't help but to think about how much I've grown since I started.  And of course, it all started with my mom.

When I was a freshman in college, I had NO IDEA what I wanted to study.  After dabbing into quite the variety of classes, I realized I enjoyed Media Studies.  During the summer after sophomore year, my mom suggested I give a call to BCAM TV to learn more about this field.  I spoke with Executive Director Wes Rea, and I ended up spending the rest of the summer volunteering at the studio.  Since I was fresh into my major classes, I literally had no idea how a studio works.  Have no fear, because the staff at BCAM TV taught me all I know.  I learned more being in the studio than I did being in the classroom.

Volunteering turned in a summer internship, which turned into a part-time job, which turned into me being offered a full-time position.  So that's my story.  What's yours?
